Charlton Athletic 3 Bolton Wanderers 2
The Easter that keeps on giving. Although at around twenty past twelve (3.20 at The Valley) my daughter and I had just got absolutely soaked by a downpour looking for Easter eggs on an egg hunt. After legging it to find some shelter, I checked my phone…. 0-2. At that point if I’d seen an Easter bunny I would have boiled it right there and then!
A great win today for us all but dedicated to those at The Valley who have seen some car crashes at home this season.
I’ve said this a number of times since August but what Powell’s team lacks in quality it makes up for in spirit. It is not always obvious in results and criticize ability yes, but effort no and led again by our perilous skipper The Valley witnessed another terrific comeback and a huge 3 points.
I was very pleased to see Andy Hughes start, his presence coincided with a great run of results last season and I think we have really missed his experience and uncomplicated style. Harriott has come in for a lot of praise, Fuller sounded much improved and of course our gallic hero was once again the man for any occasion.
Looking at the other results, that win was vital, but we can only worry about ourselves. And worry I did when the game was still being played 2 hours after it stared. By then however the sun was out and I was on my 4th Cadburys Creme Egg!

Powell-ometer: More changes by Powell today although injury deprived him of Cort and Taylor. Starting Hughes paid off though and he got Gower on later as well.
Elsewhere: This division is so exciting no one wants to leave it. Peterborough completed the double over Cardiff beating the Bluebirds 2-1. Middlesborough lost again, this time 3-2 at Wolves. Ipswich beat 10-man Leeds 3-0, Hull won at Huddersfield, Sheffield Wednesday squeaked through at home to Barnsley and play-off rivals Forest and Brighton was 2-2 at the City Ground.
