Burnley 0 Charlton Athletic 1
Tucked nicely in the Championship pack oozing confidence after a third win in a row up at Turf Moor this afternoon. Our first league win there since 1981.
Clarets fans were suicidal on Twitter post game complaining about the referee’s ineptitude, Rob Hulse being a reet animal and, oh Lordy, they only got beat by crappy old Charlton at Fortress Moor. Whatever next?
Unlike Bristol City last week, we didn’t have it all our own way today, and Burnley, furious at the early dismissal of Kieran Trippier, forced the game with 10 men and the potent Charlie Austin always a danger, but he hadn’t yet met a certain Michael Morrison.
Danny Haynes was on the scoresheet again finishing off a sweet move after Rob Hulse knocked down an angled cross from Jackson. Another clean sheet and a sterling display from Hamer in goal secured another vital 3 points.
It sounded like we again started with our foot down on the accelerator and an early penalty after Trippier was adjudged to have handled on the line was missed by the skipper. His second miss from the spot this season.
10 men are notoriously hard to play against but we snatched the victory which enables us to peak through our fingers at the teams above us rather than below. Eggert Jonnson, probably the first ever Eggert to play for the Addicks, made his debut, which didn’t sound too wordly, after Dale Stephens was taken ill.

Powell-ometer: Again Powelly had to make a change to his line-up due to injury. After the Cardiff goal-fest we have really tightened up at the back which I am sure will please the ex-defender.
Elsewhere: Palace won comfortably beating Derby 3-0 at Sellout. In the weekend’s big one Cardiff beat Middlesbrough 1-0, Hull won 3-2 at Birmingham with Aluko scoring twice. Brighton returned to form winning at Huddersfield and Mick McCarthy watched his Ipswich side ship six at Leicester. Llera scored an o.g. as Forest beat Sheffield Wednesday 1-0, Watford beat Woves 2-1 and Jordan Rhodes smashed a hat-trick as Blackburn won away at Peterborough. Bristol City drew with Blackpool and Barnsley and Bolton did likewise. Millwall and Leeds meet tomorrow.
