Youth team signal a club on the up

Charlton’s youth team had a fantastic win tonight at home to Spurs in the FA Youth Cup 5th Round. Oliver Muldoon, Johnnie Jackson style, smacking in a free-kick deep into injury time to warm the 1,371 crowd. Now Old Trafford and Manchester United await in the Quarter Finals. The date is set for February 29th.

I had a mate at the game giving me regular updates this evening and I think beating an academy team of the quality of Tottenham’s is another real signal of a club on the up. My mate said that Diego Poyet was a class above anyone else on the field and Morgan Fox at centre-half was excellent too.

It’s always interesting to see which clubs make it this far, a good indication of what sides are carrying good future players. this is the Quarter Final draw:
