Men of the month
It had to happen didn’t it? Despite being met with intrepidation by fans, Chris Powell’s November Manager of the Month award is finally recognition for our start to the season. I can only assume that Lee Clark didn’t enter his name this month!
Michael Morrison, who is looking more and more like a cross between Eddie Youds and Steve Thompson, was also the League One Player of the Month. Congratulations to both.
Back to league action tomorrow at Walsall and once again over a 1,000 Addicks will be on the road with the team to cheer them on. I guess the only team selection question is whether Powell starts with Russell or Hughes next to Hollands. It’s pretty chilly in the West Midlands by all accounts so travellers remembering the same game two seasons ago was postponed, will be checking the forecast before they set out.
On a different note, it was pretty shocking to read about Leon McLenzie trying to take his own life whilst he was playing for us a couple of years back. Depression amongst professional footballers is one of many taboo subjects brushed under dressing room carpets but following the terrible recent death of Gary Speed, I hope that Leon and people like Stan Collymore’s braveness in talking openly about the subject will help others come out of some very dark corners.
