Hogan Ephraim signs on loan

Not sure what the delay was but only today was QPR’s Hogan Ephraim unveiled as Chris Powell’s latest new signing, number 20. I understand that Ephraim has been with the club since last week but paperwork was only finalised today.

There is a great, perhaps a little inspirational, interview with the QPR left winger on cafc.co.uk today and although we wonder who potentially will make way for him, if anyone, he is correct in saying that the Christmas period is a huge time for clubs with the games and the travel coming thick and fast.

Perhaps Powell is considering moving Jackson inside at the expense of Hughes or he could play an advanced role behind the front two if Powell so wishes.

Whatever I suspect Ephraim needs some match practice and a behind the scenes game will be hastily arranged but like so many other of Powell’s signings he comes with the same hallmark of an exciting young player desperate to be successful.

Welcome to the journey Ephraim.

Meanwhile Paul Benson, who played in the Kent Senior Cup game at Bromley tonight, looks likely to leave The Valley on loan very shortly. By all accounts Benno has been inconsolable at his fall down the pecking order and a loan move has to be in everyone’s interests. Southend, Colchester and Bradford are all said to be interested, he’s a good pro Benno and a likeable bloke so i hope wherever he goes reignites his career.

Well said re: Benno. Good bloke. He must have been licking his chops when he heard we had got his old provider, Greenie. Alas, the club moved on to better alternatives up front.
And I think he may be even further down the pecking order, having had the chance to have a butcher’s at Smith when he came on briefly at Halifax. He got two goals at Bromley, too.
As for who makes way for Hogie on the bench when he’s ready, it might be Jason Euell. (I’m not joining the Jase bashing, just saying). With him and Waggy, we could have ‘impact’ subs on both wings, or in the hole then.
Perhaps we will leave our respective islands in May and get to join the celebrations in SE7. It could happen……
After these past years, it is still so hard to give in to optimism – so afraid of jinxing us – but I’m starting to find I can’t help it!!!!

I stand corrected. ‘Smudger’ got one goal at Hayes Lane, not two.
