Air miles

With the announcement that Air Miles is rebranding to Avios I have decided to beat the record of combining the most flights and beers into a single week.

Overnight tonight I fly to Gatwick, and in the morning after a super strong cup of Costa Coffee I will drive down to my parents in the East Sussex countryside for a little breakfast. Then I get back in the motor and will rush back to Maidstone to have a look around my son’s new school, Oakwood Park, and then take him out to dinner.

Thursday is the lull before the storm, when I plan to catch up with a few people and some zzzz’s.

On Friday at ridiculous o’clock myself and 8 mates are flying from Stansted to Palma in Majorca for a weekend in Magaluf. Yes, that is what I said.

We are attempted to recreate our first ever boys foreign holiday 25-years ago to the day. There was 13 of us that first time, so we have lost a couple along the way and a couple haven’t got the brownie points or the organisational skills of us others to be able to make the trip.

That two-week holiday in Magaluf in 1986 is still full of some real laugh out loud memories for me, and the idea of doing an anniversery trip was concocted in a bar in Bexley Village a couple of summers ago. Thankfully one of our brethren took it upon himself to organise it and I just worked the magic at home and wrote him a cheque.

Of course the thought of all day drinking and all night clubbing feels me with dread but we are only there from Friday to Monday morning and hopefully this time around on the last night we won’t have some of us on the roof of the hotel trying to get the flag down. It wasn’t me, I was busy.

On Monday morning, while my mates fly back to Stansted, I instead fly to Las Vegas. It’s a long story, but one I will share with you later.
