Elliot off?

Summer murmurs of Robbie Elliot leaving might well come to fruition this week. Chris Powell mentioned a few days ago that the club are in discussions to extend his contract but one has to wonder why then Powell feels he needs another 1st choice keeper with the OS stating that we are in talks to sign Reading’s Ben Hamer?

Hamer was on loan at Exeter when we played them in the bumper Valley crowd day last February. Matt Taylor would thus know him well.

Reading in between the lines Elliot turned down a new contract and the club will cash in and sign Hamer to contest for the No.1 spot with Sullivan. Elliot meanwhile has denied any move on his Twitter page.

More signings are expected this week as the club delay sending the list of squad numbers to the Football League for approval.

  1. After reading the comments on Sky Sports today I wondered exactly the same thing. Would seem odd that they needed yet another keeper with Sullivan just signed as Elliot’s replacement and Nick Pope signed as an up and coming.

Will be interesting to see if there is any truth in all this.

Rob confirmed to me there was no truth in the rumour that he was connected to a move to West Ham…..must be another club then?? Perhaps Newcastle??

Addickted to Charlton here, The last few years since we lost our stalwart Goalkeeper in Dean Kiely, has produced a bit of a problem. I Highly rated Rndolph and saw him when he was bought in at Liverool for a highly Creditble game and , I still can’t work out why Randolph was not thought of as our number 1 over Weaver , and then we lost Randolph ,and then we have Elliot. He eems Hit and Miss an When youthink of players like Tutt,Kiely and Randolph, perhaps loosing him is nt a bad thing, but We d need a great Charlton Legend to fill those gloves
