The Tribe Road Kitchen
This weekend was my 3rd anniversary of being in Bermuda, more on that another day, but I have to tell you that I finally found a coffee shop to rival one I found in my early decent coffee hunting three years ago.
The Tribe Road Kitchen has been open just a few weeks and is on the corner of Reid Street and King Street in Hamilton. The owners stripped down and restored a derelict 200-year-old Bermuda cottage and have used appealing reconditioned furniture and fittings to give it a hip but homely look.
The coffee hit the spot nicely. Sadly they unfortunately only sell pastries and baked goods on Mondays but offer different daily breakfast’s and lunches from Tuesday to Saturday. Nothing is open in Bermuda on a Sunday and therefore nothing would be fresh on a Monday morning the chap making the coffee told me this morning. Fair point that other places clearly ignore.
The Royal Gazette ran an article on the owner Karsten Krivenko last week piquing my interest and the Tribe Road Kitchen, named for those tiny rural paths furcated throughout the island, has many exciting future plans including supper clubs, a pizza oven for the garden and cheese tastings. I’m going back.

Cheese tasting! Yummy – can I come?
I agree – great place, good to take the kids to as well. But no sandwiches on a Monday? They must have turned down 12 people whilst I was there because of that. Not a great business model…
Thanks for the comments, we will have lunch on a mondays soon, we have been experimenting with different lunch options and have settled on a lunch menu of the most popular items. As we have only one chef at the moment it is impossible for her to work seven days a week to try and stau on top, as we grow and find the right staff the options will change, hang in and visit often and enjoy the food and the changes as they happen.
Russ, thanks for commenting. Whilst I understand the reasons for not offering lunch on Monday – I know I’ve bought salad leaves and ‘fresh’ fruit on a Monday morning from the supermarket! I still think it is an opportunity missed.
However kudos to you guys on putting together an independent option and I will continue to support it and put the word out. Good luck.
