It’s taken me a couple of days to allow the excitement to subside. Bournemouth at home to start with, Hatlepools at home to end, Yeovil away in the middle. Thrilling. However not many have mentioned that the Carlisle away game is nicely placed!
Selfishly I would rather Notts County away first game of the season for a good old fashioned away day, but the good news is that my son and I will be able to watch us at The Valley on August 6th and I can probably make the Reading League Cup game too. Two games before I fly back to Bermuda (after arriving on the Friday), the same total amount of times I saw our sorry lot the whole of last season.
As expected the Reading home friendly was ditched and will be replaced with another game.
Two games in Spain have been announced and naively I suppose I thought we would play a couple of Spanish sides, particularly as I am sure I read Tony Jiminez has a stake in a lower league Andalusian side.
The opposition will be a decent test though. On July 12th we play Bristol City in Lepe, which is in the south-west corner of Spain right on the border with Portugal and then three days later we play Cardiff City in Seville, the match to take place at the La Liga side’s reserve team ground.
All this after the opener against Welling United in less than 3 weeks time.
