Trouble and strife

It wasn’t long ago that I was sat with the other-half on one of our Friday date-nights plying her with wine and persuading her that I have to be in Manchester around the end of May for the weekend. Well that was a pink ticket well and truly wasted wasn’t it?

Then today I was working out my summer visit back to Blighty and was trying to coincide my trip around the first game of the new season. Sadly it won’t be Upton Park but more likely the Crown Ground…. yes, quite, small margins indeed.

So five more non-events left for those hardy Addicks that still can’t bear to go to Bluewater with the missus on a Saturday afternoon. Huddersfield at least will bring a following and hopes of overcoming Southampton for 2nd place. Rochdale and Hartlepool will just have an oppourtunity to lord it at a once proud Premier League ground…. “Premier League, you’re having a laugh.” Oh, how we are not laughing.

Trips to Walsall and Bristol Rovers will see us face sides fighting for their safety’s and with vocal home crowds those away days don’t look like a lot of fun either.

What a disastrous season. One in that I have only seen my beloved Addicks in the flesh twice, horribly down on my six-game average.

Added to that, one of my benefits of sponsoring a players kit is being invited to a dinner that the club host at The Valley. The date is May 5th, and I can’t bloody make that either so I am sending my brother and a mate to abuse the whole squad on my behalf. Incidentially I note that it’s before the season actually finishes, probably because the majority of the squad will no longer be Charlton players after the middle of May, and an empty room full of stupid empty walleted supporters and a couple of academy players would be a bit embarrassing.

Anyway, as I said to my brother, at least I plumped for Semedo when I decided to do my bit for the financial stability of the club last summer (as I no longer buy a season ticket). The boy from Setúbal is someone I am proud to call a Charlton player (watch this interview if you haven’t already) and by the looks of it, he’ll win the supporter’s player of the year award too.
