Any more, for any more?

Can you believe the new season starts in three days? It’s too early and I don’t think I’m quite prepared for it, in saying that I’m not sure the team are ready either.

20 players have left the club since the Swindon game, some were on loan admittedly but that is some serious car parking spaces left unoccupied behind the West Stand. Just six have come in – Doherty, McCormack, Jackson, Reid, Francis and Abbott, maybe a 7th tomorrow with the news that 20-year old Woking goalkeeper Ross Worner has passed a medical but we are still haggling over the financials.

The club’s current mouthpiece, Millwall’s South London Press said that a defender was near completing a deal on Monday. Still waiting, but Jon Fortune did turn out again last night in the friendly at Isthmian League Concord Rangers.

Luke Varney is the latest striker to be mentioned in dispatches, he is still under contract at Derby and John Still, Dagenham & Redbridge’s manager says we have had two bids rejected for their striker Paul Benson, who has an impressive strike rate of 70 goals over the last three season for the promoted Daggers.

Meanwhile apparently at yesterday’s seat Valley clean-up Parky in an impromptu question and answer session with fans indicated that we will not be signing Spanish striker Guillem Bauzà, much to the disappointment it seems of those Addicks that have seen him in pre-season.

Bauzà was popular at his last club Swansea, and has been deployed in the hole behind a lone striker in three friendlies, but maybe Parky has other options or doesn’t want to go down the 4-3-1-1 route. Only Parky and his mobile company know of his conversations.

The transfer deadline has a way to run and although like everyone else I’m furiously checking to see if we have made a signing, I am happy to wait until Parky gets his first-choice players. We might have to accept that we have a slow start but it is a long bloody season.

I’m sure I read somewhere that Bensen is out injured for three weeks which could delay the arrival of Parky’s first choice striker.

I read that and also saw somewhere that PP won’t go higher on the bid.
