Off to Cymru

With hotels closed in Wales it will be a day trip to Cardiff on Tuesday for Charlton in their next behind closed doors game as part of this summer’s mini-season.

Cardiff City have propelled themselves into the top six since we re-started. The old adage that every game in this league is tough is no more apparent than our next three games as we now go full steam into a rollercoaster of games until the end of this prolonged season.

Wales show the way

The Welsh players’ wild celebrations at England’s defeat still sticks in the craw but I can’t help but be inspired by Wales progression and performances to reach the Euro 2016 semi’s. They have been everything England weren’t. Aggressive, organized, unified, passionate, proud and in Gareth Bale they have a truly gifted world class player with little or no ego.

Wales take on Portugal tonight and why some Englishmen will wish them to fail, I think the majority of Britain will be cheering them on as they represent not just themselves but the whole of the Kingdom.

The Church of Wales

February 23rd, 2000. Wales were out in Qatar, helping trying to establish the game in this oil-rich land. Wales won the friendly game 1-0. A certain John Robinson was the scorer, his 3rd and final goal for the Welsh National Team.

Tonight over 13 years later in Cardiff the Addicks’ Simon Church scored with a sweet finish to give Wales a 1-0 win over Macadonia in their final home World Cup qualifier.
