Holmes-Dennis leaves

I don’t know whether Tareiq Holmes-Dennis represents a major player as of today in Russell Slade’s mind, but once again we will never find out as Roland Duchatelet pushes another one of our great academy prospects from his farm out of the door.

Holmes-Dennis is coveted by David Wagner so Huddersfield Town made the approach to the club to discuss terms with the 20-year old, and sure enough he will sign this afternoon for an undisclosed fee.

An excellent result and not just a clinging on rear guard action. The Addicks created chances too, with youngsters Ademola Lookman and Tareiq Holmes-Dennis outstanding, especially Holmes Dennis playing out of position at right back who danced down the wing to provide a teasing cross for super skipper Johnnie Jackson to head powerfully home.

Lookman started up front with Simon Makienok with Reza on the bench along with the returning Harry Lennon and new loanee Ricardo Vaz Te. There was no place for Moussa.

We were under the gun for a lot of the 1st period, especially before half-time but the Blues never caused many heart-fluttering moments, at least listening to the radio. That was until the final seconds when Holmes-Dennis rounded off a terrific performance preventing Grounds from a sure equaliser.

Behind the back of the sofa

We’ve found a few quid because today Tareiq Holmes-Dennis and Morgan Fox were given extended contracts.

19-year old Farnborough born Tareiq Holmes-Dennis has signed a two-year contract extension, which commits him to the club until June 2018. Left back Holmes-Dennis is meant to be a big talent and has already played 37 games whilst on loan to Oxford and Plymouth and made his Charlton debut off the bench against Dagenham & Redbridge in August.

And the club have stolen a march on Manchester United by extending Morgan Fox’s contract a further year to June 2018. Fox reportedly was being monitored by United with other clubs interested. Ipswich were sniffing around the Welsh 22-year old last season. Fox has excelled under Luzon for whom he has played most of his 43 league games.
