Stewart moves to Leeds

I think Roland Duchatelet’s takeover came a little too late to prevent Chris Powell changing Cameron Stewart’s mind.

Leeds were in for him in while back and today he finally signed for them on loan until the end of the season, with the lure of a 3-year contract at the end of it when his Hull contract expires. A promotion battle over a relegation one and the security of a three and a half deal I am sure swung it for the Manchester born winger.

I liked Stewart, he was direct, could take a player on and scored a couple of great goals. It does give Harriott a chance to re-establish himself, but I think that leaves quite a big hole in our already thin squad.

One in, one out

Credit where credit’s due. Despite a host of rumours doing the rounds it was with huge relief that today’s latest manic transfer deadline day passed without any of our most important players leaving the club, this despite the club’s financial predicament.

Blackpool were linked with Yann Kermorgant and Fulham with Chris Solly, but to be honest there was nothing more than wild gossip doing the rounds today so we should accept that Jimenez and Slater were not that desperate to sell the family china. The next step (please) has to be to extend some of those contracts that expire at the end of the season.

It sounds at least that those present this afternoon may have at least seen a performance, they were owed one. It worries me that Chris Powell said after the game that he doesn’t want the season to drift, well Chris me old mate I hate to break it to you but we have been drifting like ghosts amongst the trees in Greenwich Park for a couple of months.
