New CEO

After a long search, the Addicks have finally appointed a new CEO. Ben Mansford was most recently working for Maccabi Tel Aviv where he was sporting director.

Mansford has worked for Maccabi twice and has also held the chief executive position at Blackpool, Leeds and Barnsley.

Yorkshireman Mansford is in his late 40’s and in his early career worked for a law firm and a sports agency.

Mansford was said to have had a big influence at Leeds after they prised him away from Barnsley. Rich Cawley’s post also lists many positive attributes from the Maccabi hierarchy.

According to the club announcement all test’s and approvals have been completed so he begins work right away. Before anyone asks, we don’t know if he can play on the right wing!

I’d expect him to report to Gavin Carter, who would want Mansford to act as a bridge between the sporting and commercial ends of the house, as well as lead revenue generation and have budget oversight.

Budget oversight would have to include the club’s biggest spend and that is on players, recruitment, coaches and the manager.

Welcome to SE7, Ben.

Happy to see and better late than never, though not sure what impact he’ll have at this stage.

Def thankful for GFP pulling us out of L1 and getting the club on a somewhat stable foundation. Can’t say though that I’d be disappointed to see a clean slate starting with a new savy and disciplined but ambitious owner on down.
