“You can’t keep trying to do the same thing and expecting different results.” Correct, sir.
Nathan Jones during today’s press conference and it’s sound as if he will ring the changes to his side. I understand why managers and coaches don’t like doing that, I mean it rarely works well when we have a big upheaval for cup ties, but I think the time has come and frankly it belittles the ‘squad game’ approach if those on the outside don’t get to play their part.
No stupid EFL Trophy in The Championship, thankfully, but that does mean you lose those early season games to get minutes into squad players and youngsters.
Harvey Knibbs, Sonny Carey, Joe Rankin-Costello, Millenic Alli and Charlie Kelman have had very limited game time this season.
Jones also welcomes back Nathaniel Chalobah and Matty Godden. You never know if they are match ready or need more practice time. I can see Chalobah at least starting, maybe Godden on the bench. Having him involved somehow always give me a warm and fuzzy feeling.
Chalobah played in those first four games, but in a way he moved a little under the radar at the time, just like a good referee. He has a style and a groove like a good engine that keeps the team moving forward. His injury issues will sadly mean he is not a long term solution, but short term we need him back.
Rich Cawley said today that Solly March had a medical on Wednesday, and an announcement could be made tomorrow on a short-term deal. Does Jones also throw him in at least for 50 or so minutes.
I’d really like us to revert to a back four at home on Saturday. I’d love to see Chalobah in there and then Kelman should replace Leaburn. I’m not a football coach but there must be a way that we can play two up front without being too open. Maybe Leaburn playing in a more withdrawn role supporting Kelman.
Big man, little man up top. It used to work.

Personally, I am now totally frustrated our current performances and have been
since our toothless performance against QPR. Our current performances only make me dream of the games that I have seen over 70 years of supporting our club. I acknowledge all that Jones has done for us over the last 3 seasons and I am not yet ready to call for him to go. However, it is just not good enough for him to bemoan the performances of players he obviously had a hand in acquiring. It is his job to turn this around and to provide us with football that excites us at least some of the time. Wake up, Jones, before it is too late.
Big man little man John Toshack and Kevin keegan springs to mind !
What about big man/little man…..Morecombe and Wise ?

Nathan mentioned in an interview recently that “I don’t care if a pigeon heads one in fior us “

Lets hope the pigeons score more than the canaries !
Leaburn would be the prime example. We have all praised his work ethic this season, but he has now missed a couple of huge chances. Had he put them away, then NJ would have been rewarded for that loyalty shown, but it sadly isn’t working out that way.
We were getting so much more out of TC in the 4-2-3-1 formation, so it cannot be a coincidence that his form has dropped off as soon as we switch to five at the back? I will be exasperated if I see the line-up tomorrow with Skipp and Coventry in it…
Big man little man.
It worked with Ray Treacy and Matt Tees
Those were the days, and a pretty good team that almost got promoted tithe top tier
We scored goals in them days, tees Treacy, hales Flanagan, wright Philips kermanget, we’ve got young leaburn and a big money signing in kelman who only just makes it off the bench
Big cook little cook was a kids tv tv show in the uk in the mid 2000s I used to watch with my eldest son I wasn’t being rude CA honest
