Slovenia again
The Addicks will once again go to Slovenia for a pre-season training camp, but will this year have a game that fans can attend.
Charlton will play NK Maribor at Stadion Ljudski Vrt, 16 times Slovenia champions, on Friday, July 10th, 6pm local time.
Trip Advisor comments tell of an atmospheric and modern stadium. One for Addicks to tick off their list. Maribor play a couple of hours away from the Alpine camp that will be at called home for the week leading up to the game.
Nathan Jones has been taking his teams to Slovenia since 2017 and the squad will stay at the same training camp in Kranjska Gora, which is in the northwestern part of the country nestled between mountains and glacial lakes.
Five pre-season games have been announced:
Dartford v Charlton – Friday, July 3rd (7.45pm BST)
NK Maribor v Charlton – Friday, July 10th (5pm BST)
Gillingham v Charlton – Saturday, July 18th (3pm BST)
AFC Wimbledon v Charlton – Saturday, July 25th (3pm BST)
Reading v Charlton – Saturday, August 1st (3pm BST)
Not sure as to whether we’ll get a home friendly. Although the opening league game is on the weekend of August 14–16, 2026, the Saturday before is set this year for the the 1st Round of the Carabao Cup.
It’s a shame they can’t squeeze in a game against Welling.
I know in the last game 4 or 5 years ago someone got injured but it was a traditional game being played at the park view road ground that went back to the early 1950s .
I and my family along with 1500+ Charlton supporters looked forward to this every year.
Welling is a second team to a lot of Charlton supporters including my family and friends and was a big income for Welling.
Nathan Jones should understand this if he is holding a grudge from 4or5 years ago.
It was Miles Leaburn who got clogged by a bit of over-enthusiastic defending when we last played Welling. From memory that injury saw him miss the first six weeks of the season. I presume that’s why we haven’t visited since.
That pre-dates the NJ era, Dean Holden was manager.

Whitehawk F.C are advertising a friendly against us on Tuesday 28th of July, which I assume must be against our youngsters?
Assume that is a Charlton XI.
