Mbick out for the season
For those that follow our loan players they would’ve seen Micah Mbick take a really bad tackle during his first full game back for Colchester from his recent hip injury on Saturday.
I say tackle as it wasn’t even given as a foul as the ref played on following a high challenge from Newport County’s Cameron Evans’s
Colchester boss Danny Cowley described it as a “horrendous tackle. It looks a really, really bad one unfortunately.”
Well, it was bad and today the U’s said that Micah’s season is over and with that so is his loan. The good news is that he won’t require surgery and in conjunction with the Addicks medical team, they will “take a more conservative approach, with his knee placed in a brace for the next 10-12 weeks to see how it heals.” (more)
12 weeks takes Micah to the middle of June, so I suspect he will also miss the start of pre-season.
The 19-year has had a stand-out season for Colchester and scored 8 goals in 18 starts plus 2 assists. A terrible way to finish the season.
Gutted for the lad. Get better soon, Micah.

That’s a real shame he was coming along nicely he s a great young player, speedy recovery Micah
Sad to hear the news and hope Micah can recover quickly and continue his development as he’s a really good player.

All the best Micah 12 weeks in a brace doesnt sound great – keep the faith – and the ref should be shot apparently as his first responsibility is supposed to be player protection.
Career threatening injuries are the very real risk being run by the Football League with their absolute negligence over refereeing standards. What more will it take for it to be taken seriously? The outcome of games is being changed by incompetent officialdom every week. The integrity of our professional competitions is in jeopardy. As are the careers of players and managers.
