Lyndon Dykes signs on permanent deal
Scottish international Lyndon Dykes has signed for the Addicks until the end of the season, where I am sure there is an agreement in place to extend that as his Birmingham contract ran until 2027.
Dykes said: “I’m super pleased and I can’t wait to get going. It’s going to be really exciting for myself and my family, and I think there’s going to be good times to come.”
Born and raised in Australia to Scottish parents, he played a variety of sports at good level. He settled in Dumfries at the age of 21 and played 100 games for Queen of the South.
He then had a season at Livingston where he first got on Scotland’s radar. He signed for QPR in August 2020 for £2m and spent four Championship seasons in west London before being part of Birmingham’s big spending summer in 2024.
Dykes was a 1/4.5 striker at QPR but has never been a big scorer of goals, but he is a big presence and brings a lot of experience to our squad.
I also note that Birmingham fans on the socials only have good things to say about him. Leicester and Ipswich were said to have made approaches to the Scot and Birmingham in recent days.
The carrot of him going to the World Cup with summer also appeals to me. Dykes has 10 goals and 48 caps for the Tartan Army.
Welcome Lyndon.

Yet another forward who can’t core goals 3 in 26 games for Birmingham and will be another on the highest wages, as there is no way he would accept less than what he was getting at Birmingham, especially with other clubs interested.
I would think quite a few of the much better players, such as Jones, Carey, Edwards, Coventry, Ramsey, TC & others won’t be too happy with what he will be getting paid, considering the low wages they are already on, compared to others such as Kaminski, Berry, Docherty, Burke, Bree and now Dykes! So lets just hope he does perform for the rest of the season, as if not I can see there could be a lot of unrest in the camp.
You obviously have good intel into Charlton player wages, Mike. I don’t know how you know the structure of each players contracts, but you obviously have a good source..
CA If I recall someone had by error &/or on purpose sent the list of all the players annual wages to whoever, quite a while ago and it was posted, so you can find the Charlton players wages on certain sites now if you search, its not hidden, with Kaminski being the highest earner!
In fact, I can confirm, the security of data at Charlton didn’t appear to be that great last year, presume its now hopefully been sorted, as a friend of ours went onto the site to sign in and get a ticket for his seat or something can’t remember what, and instead it came up showing a list of some of the players wages etc! 🙂
All the others players that you list cant have scored more than 7 or 8 goals between them this season so really not sure how you would make a ‘better’ comparison. All clubs at all levels of the pyramid pay more for goalscorers, so yes lets hope he delivers. He Certainly has taken points off us in the past.
I’m not sure about him, but it’s better than not having a dedicated striker….He will however want to impress the Scottish management as he wants to be selected for the upcoming World Cup so goals will be his focus that will help us.
The proof is in the pudding so let’s wait and see and hopefully he will restore my faith in him
Not sure about this signing, but will give him the benefit of the doubt. I do know he puts himself about a bit on the pitch, which is something we havn’t had for a while. So if he becomes a handfull for defences, that will do me for a start, as we are light in that area.
Welcome Lyndon dykes a proper old fashioned centre forward something we have missed for a long time, where on earth are we going to find a 20 goals a season striker in this market. Let’s stop the negativity and get behind the team at least they are trying to change it up, coyr
I am sure about him, but will happily be convinced that he will add something to the squad. We don’t know what the salary agreement is with Birmingham.. could be shared for all we know ? Anyway, the positives are he has championship experience so hopefully he can impact games and link up with other strikers. He needs game time to get his name out there for the WC, so should be motivated to make an impact. We do need that robust striker, Leaburn is doing ok but we need squad depth. That left side is still a major concern though. Hopefully some news will emerge on that front.
Goal scoring average better assists if lyndon can help assist a few surely that would be ok he has still got a few yrs left in the tank. Does anybody know the godden timeline on playing again I read sometime in January but being mid January I cant see it even if he did some coaching would be better than nothing.
Rumours that Godden may be on the bench Saturday.
Raheem Sterling ,still only 30 yrs.Currently in exile at Chelsea.
Available now, maybe free transfer, but high wages.Proven goal scorer, crowd puller,be someone special to come to the Valley, even for a few months- like Allan Simonsen
A snip at $325,000 a week. Last played in May.
Apologies.. sorry thought he was signed on loan ! 🫣. A short term signing is interesting but understandable. Let’s see how he goes , hopefully he will hold up the ball and link in with other players and get some goals, although never has been prolific.
Lyndon is a good lad. Birmingham fans weren’t impressed when we signed him from QPR. He doesn’t score many but he’s an awkward bugger that bumps into defenders and roughs up the opposition. He has scored some important goals for us such as the very late winners versus Blackburn and Swansea this season. I do think Jones will use him as proper battering ram and get lots of crosses into the box. Chris Davies didn’t really play to his strengths and despite the goals/appearance stats many of them were sub appearances for the last 20 minutes so its a bit unfair saying he hasn’t scored in X amount of games. I, personally wish him all the best.
Good to hear, Imran. He seems universally liked by Blues fans and QPR fans as well.
