Three lined up to join
I understand how difficult the January transfer window is, but we are now day 12 and we have the most important run of games coming up, so come on and hurry up!
The squad is decimated and is running on the fumes and the left side of defence has to be addressed this week.
Amari’i Bell has been outstanding this season. He has not had a bad game, not even an average one, and one can argue it is him we have missed the most when he hasn’t played. Bell’s missed six games due to hamstring injuries, which have been more stressed when he hasn’t played moved to LWB, as he was last night just for a few moments.
It does sound on the jungle drums that a left wing back is on the docket for this week.
The name in the frame is Liverpool youngster Calum Scanlon. The 20-year was on-loan at Millwall last season. Liverpool signed him as a 15-year old from Birmingham for a reported £500,000 fee. Scanlon has had little exposure to first team football.
The James Bree negotiations continue, but the Suffolk local press are suggesting that right-back Harry Clarke is in talks with the Addicks regarding a loan move.
The Leeds’ born right back was influential in The Championship with Sunderland and Ipswich bought him for £15 million with an additional £5 million of add-ons after they were promoted to the Premier League. He played 32 times last season for the Tractor Boys but is coming back from an injury.
Finally Landon Dykes was spotted at yesterday’s cup game, despite rumours that other clubs have joined the race to sign the Scotsman.
We need a big, positive week in the transfer market.
