Norwich City 1 Charlton Athletic 0

It appears I was lucky to miss watching today’s game. That sounded turgid at best.

A worrying performance after a couple of positive ones. Losing is one thing, but losing in that manner will no doubt raise concerns once again.

We are crawling to the end of the year. We have a good amount of points in the bag, I wish we had a few more, but if Nathan Jones is to recreate one of his second-half of the season upswings then there does need to be a dramatic improvement, and suddenly I have concerns about some of his players.

What has happened to James Bree for starters.

Maybe it was a coincidence, I didn’t watch and only briefly read mates’ texts and social media, but we appeared a lot more solid with Bell in the team.

Talking of coincidences, Nathan Jones being banished to the stands after three yellow cards, was unable to influence performances, and for all his grandstanding, at times like today, some small margins must help.

No Ramsey, hopefully allowing more time for full fitness, but Curtis Fleming said that Keenan Gough was the only thing worth clapping.

A tough Boxing Day for us, especially those that filled the away end. It’s a quick turnaround and we have be better.

🎙️ “This was a good game for us to go into today, a good opportunity for us to go and win the game and I don’t think we really turned up.” – Curtis Fleming

⭐️ Thomas Kaminski

That was a very disappointing performance with some players putting in some stinkers. Norwich are better than league position and are in relatively decent form, but this was a game we could get behind and pick up some points.
Kaminski had a good game and kept us in the match. Gough was the only other positive from the game. Bree had a very poor game, Leaburn made no impact, Anderson was hesitant on the ball, Olafe was ineffective and to be fair you could go on. To have no shots on target against a side who last kept a clean sheet in August demonstrated how poor and lack of cutting edge we had. Bell came off for TC, who had little impact and shown his lack of upper body strength in challenges, he was replaced by Apter at left wing back who tried his best.
We all have off days and but we can’t repeat these performances especially with the now all important game against Portsmouth. 3 pts are so crucial in this league and we need to battle away to edge ourselves forward.
January will be key as left side enforcements on the top priority list. I still remain positive about our season but we can’t slip up with against sides around and below us.

A pathetic and feeble performance. The majority of the player’s should be ashamed and embarrassed with that performance. Where was the fight, spirit, and commitment? Embarrassing!

As Fleming did the post match interview. We weren’t blessed with NJ’s thoughts on the match.
    You know the ones?
    “that wasn’t us”
    “we weren’t front footed enough”
    “wibble wibble”
    ad infinitum ……………………

That was a very hard watch….we are so unpredictable at present and we seem to have lost the plot.
I bet Rodwell and Elliot had ear-ache sitting next to Nathan in the stand….maybe not having him I the dug-out had a negative effect.
Oh well on to Portsmouth and see if things improve…always keep the faith as the roller coaster is in full swing.

Keenan Gough can very proud of his debute and he was not fazed by Norwich and put in a great shift…another diamond to polish….Chris Flemming was spot-on with his post match summary….

Travel down from Manchester hoping we would kick on from our win against Oxford, to witness a awful performance but has my son said probably one of the worst second half.performances for a long time, TC came on and still doesn’t do himself any favours he was dreadful, still the main goal is to stay up coyr

Depressed ramblings….I have a horrible feeling we will be back in league one next season. I just can’t see how we can get the 18 to 23 points needed for survival, due in part to most of the teams below us picking up form a few games before we play them. Watched the match on tv yesterday and our corner and set piece taker was beyond embarrassing. He also stood off a couple of loose balls for no apparent reason. Moved to Carey taking short corners to Bree to see if he might be able to cross in from a different position. No chance just wasted. Please send him back to his parent club before the Coventry game and not bring him in because Ramsay might not be available for a few games. Predict it will be us, Oxford and Sheffield W as bottom 3. Not been to Fratton Park so that will be a treat on Monday and looking forward to going to the Den at least until the matches kick off anyway.

Abysmal performance not one effort on goal, but not surprising really as all the teams have now worked out NJ’s game plan! As per normal it’s everyone behind the ball and defend for your life for a draw and if we can snatch a goal to win the three points great and if we do go a goal down, then revert to humping the ball up front to no mans land and hopefully someone can grab an equalizer!
I’m also getting totally fed up with this stupid saying of NJ’s after we have been beaten each time, with even Fleming now repeating it “I don’t think we were the best version of ourselves, we have to be the best version of ourselves in every game we play in” well its bloody obvious you have to play to best of your ability, unfortunately quite a few players best versions of themselves are just not good enough for this league and others are struggling to continue with NJ’s one route way of playing &/or also out of their normal position, especially the forwards.
NJ has to change his game plan and also now use wingers such as Apter, sorry RA, but he’s a cut above Bree, and also TC, (he’s not a striker as NJ is still trying to prove), but playing in their right positions on the wings, as whats the point of having too big strikers up front with no crosses coming in? Just look at the top of the table all have good wingers who can cross a ball, which strikers score from.
The Portsmouth game has now become a must not lose at all costs, as with Coventry following, if we do, I can see Charlton just above the bottom three with all confidence lost!

Half of our players we should’ve left in L1 but we haven’t got the mega-millions of Birmingham and Wrexham.
Anyone that thinks this run of form is down to NJ is, respectfully, deluded…we’d be nailed into the bottom 3 already were it not from him.
A bit of strengthening, a lot of unity and fingers-crossed the return of Matt Godden and I wouldn’t be writing off the 50+ we need.
Peace, health and harmony to all.

We worked our socks off defensively but offered nothing in the last third – we had a few free-kicks and corners into the box but they were under or over hit. Other than that we barely got the ball near their penalty box let alone in it.

Still the transfer window opens in a few days, that should see some fresh blood joining the club and maybe one or two going the other way.

The only positive was the return of Amari’i Bell and Reese Burke to the match day squad and Charlie Kelman has just returned to fitness. We are paying though for a lack of depth in quality and quantity.

It didn’t look any better in the sun CA, but the cocktails helped. We are what we are. You know I had my doubts about promotion last season but I will not be slagging off my own players or manager. It was always going to be tough. And well said Steve above. More people like you will certainly help.
