Massive woes
Sheffield Wednesday have been placed in administration after it was revealed His Majesty’s Revenue & Customs plan to issue a winding-up petition against The Owls.
Wednesday have been hit with an imemdiate 12-point deduction.
Luckily, I have been spending more time studying the top half of the table, although my inner Charlton still has me very aware of what is going on at the bottom, so natural instinct this morning is an agreeable nod to that news.
We’ve had our moments with Wednesday in recent history, but they are a famous club, with a passionate fan base that play in a wonderful cathedral of a stadium. I am a football fan and wish no ill on any football club, and Addicks’ fans should be more understanding than most when it comes to pitiless and crooked ownerships.
Remember Katrien Meire was once CEO at Hillsborough too.
Under Henrik Pedersen they have been more than competitive this season and I’ve been impressed with how the team has rallied together.
Wednesday fans boycotted their home game against Middlesbrough in the week as they have others at Hillsborough, but have travelled to away games in big numbers, just as we did back in the Duchatelet days.
They sit bottom of the table and -12 points makes it a very long way back, but taking the pain now might be far more advantageous than having to suffer it next season if they got relegated anyway.
Importantly it’s the best opportunity to get rid of Dejphon Chansiri. In a familiar tale Chansiri who abominably has his name plastered across the vast North Stand, had separated the ownership of the club and the stadium but it looks as if both companies have been put into administration.
It is also rumoured that he turned down a £40 million bid in the summer. What motivates these egotistical lowlifes?
A dark day for Wednesday, but this might be the darkest moment before the dawn for them.

I live in Sheffield so its hot news today. This is definitely their best hope of changing owners.
So sad.. there but for the grace of God go we.
I suppose i should feel sorry for them, but i dont. Possibly the most detestable fans in England (after Millwall)
Not so massive now …………..
We know how they feel, keep fighting you Owls. But do we lose our three points from last week?
Er, no.
I’m not a big fan of the Wednesday club but what does my head in is the people who run these lower football leagues the EFL they pass these owners as fit and proper then just turn there heads the club goes into administration then decide to deduct 12 points that really helps matters we have had a few dodgy owners in the past that past these tests and we nearly went under a few times when will they learn
So true, Danny.
I have a lot of respect for Wedsnesday and they are a club who find themselves being disrespected by the owner. We have been in the same situation and I’m sure fans will continue to do all they can to deal with points deductions…at least the current owner has gone !!!
Keep strong we managed to get through similar turmoil and have come out of the darkness into the light…..never never give up !!!!
Hi Chicago. I have no love for the Club after the last game in our first premiership season when we were relegated. Totally out of order – we are a small club and there was no need for it. However, I found myself clapping in support of their protest at the recent game as a lot of our fans did – but I have no doubt we would have been on our feet for other clubs. But I was deeply impressed during the week at their near total boycott of their home game. Something we never managed even in the worst of times. So, good luck to them. I hope they get a fan-led club to take forward.
It’s always the fans that suffer with these terrible owners we have come through that dark tunnel and the light is looking very bright for us can you imagine what the valley would be now if southall and ESI stayed in charge I know we have just renewed the lease on valley for another 15 years but we still have the foul stench of a former owner I don’t like it
