Charlie Kelman signs
A Sunday signing.
Charlie Kelman has signed from Queens Park Rangers on a 4-year deal for an undisclosed fee, which apparently was in excess of £3m, rising to £5m with a ton of add-ons.
Kelman has never scored at Championship level but has started just 4 games and played in total 392 minutes. Nonetheless, QPR have added a 20% sell-on to the deal.
Clearly Nathan Jones had fixed his eyes on Kelman the moment he’d woken up after a night at Box Park, and credit again to the owners for backing him.
Kelman has used Matty Godden as a role model, and 11-years his junior he will now have the opportunity to learn from the ‘sniffer dog’ himself.
Welcome Charlie, be a hero.

It’s worth comparing this squad with poor Lee Bowyer’s 2019/20 squad where Albie Morgan, Alfie Doughty and Josh Davison, all then either 19 or 20 were required to make contributions. Additionally Anfernee Dijksteel was sold at the beginning of the season.
This is all very different and it looks like we still have more to look forward to.
Very pleased with this. Despite Orient fans now backtracking on their previous hero worship, we now have the top scorer in League 1 last year who’s hungry to prove himself at a higher level. I just hope it works out like Super Clive, another lower league proven scorer who made the transition up – nothing guaranteed but we need to take the chance & I fully trust NJ & the board to have done their homework properly for him fitting into the NJ style. Exciting times!
A great couple and I’m confident Jones will adjust his play to suit the team….thongs can only get better !!!!
You must have been watching a lot of the Womens teams! 🙂
How did you guess and yes I do watch Charlton ladies games at home 😃
😃….things can only get better too….I hate pre-text
Thought that was the 3rd kit 🤣
Reebok need to design them won’t need much material
I hope it works out well for Kelman. I have reservations about signing strikers from lower divisions as when they move up they don’t always have the technical ability required.
I feel like a very lucky football supporter at the moment 😁
We deserve some luck, Christopher.
A four year deal, he fits the template of a lot of our signings this window. Young, in demand and able to be trained up. You can’t argue with his record of 27 goals from 61 games last season and the comparison with Matty Godden suggests he’s being bought to fit into a system.
Anyone know whats happened to Godden in pre season?
Sam – he picked up a slight calf strain in the first week of training.
Ok what has happened to this club we are spending money how much change did they find down the back of the sofas in Floyd’s bar
Some really good players are coming in and kelman is the pick of the bunch quick and pacey and young and hungry
It’s still going to be a tough season I was looking at the league table the other day and there are going to be some tough games maybe a lot of 6 pointers in the lower half
Thank god Charlie and Scott have gone and the owners can finally see what a fantastic club this is
