Kelman and Knibbs

K&K. Well, at least it seems one K.

QPR and Charlton today reached an agreement for the transfer of Charlie Kelman according to top level transfer guru Fabrizio Romano. Of course the much more reliable and down to earth source Rich Cawley is now carrying this story as well.

Kelman is expected to be unveiled on Monday for a fee of £3.5m rising to £5m if add-ons are met.

Always a risk signing anyone let alone an unproven striker at the level, but the underlying data, age, potential and hunger of Kelman are undeniable.

This is big money for Charlton but we cannot compete at top Championship striker level, nor would they probably want to come. A young Premier League loanee is even more of a gamble as is a punt overseas.

Kelman one of just two players in three divisions of the EFL to score 20+ goals last season. In all competitions for the O’s he scored 27 goals and provided 7 assists.

Harvey Knibbs was pulled out of Reading’s friendly today with manager Noel Hunt citing serious interest from Championship clubs, in the plural.

Charlton are one of those clubs with Wrexham and Portsmouth also in the frame. Knibbs is an attacking midfield 10 that can also play off a striker. The 26-year old has scored 25 league goals in 88 League One games for Reading.

Knibbs – 1.8m and an absolute steal. You’ll love him. Reading season ticket holder

This is if materialises this is a good signing, I hope it does, he is young and you hope would improve. It is a step up but he demonstrated good movement and anticipation in league 1.
I understand Godden will not be ready for opening fixtures as struggling with an injury and getting fit. So Kelman will have a good run. Yes big money for us, but not in terms of other championship strikers as you say CA. If knibbs comes off, then that will be an amazing piece of busy. Wrexham can turn heads with salaries etc., but fingers crossed on that one, and kelman.

If Charlton do complete the signing let’s hope Charlie becomes better known as Special K!

Peter – Mannion was carrying a slight injury so didn’t travel to Slovenia and his partner was due to have a baby.

As a Charlton fan from Basildon, and there are a few of us we can really claim Kellman as one of our own as it turns out the America striker was born in good old Basildon.
    Go Bas.
