Shinnosuke Fukuda

Here’s a name to conjure with. Sourced by the Daily Mail, according too them we have had an offer turned down for Japanese defender Shinnosuke Fukuda.

This one will confuse those Addicks that think we only do our scouting in Bedforshire, but the 24-year Fukuda plays for Kyoto in the J League

The deal appears to be a loan with a plan to sign him permanently when his contract expires at the end of next January. Another source said that his club wants to sell him and not loan him, with the fee being around £800,000.

Fukuda can play at right back or right wing back which tells us at least that Nathan Jones is still looking for an answer in that position.

The J League is in mid-season and Kyoto are 4th with Fukuda recently captaining the side.

Apparently Jones met him once when visiting Japan and he told Jones he had always wanted to play for Luton! 🙂

I played in Japan at a much lower level for a couple of years but the thing I noticed about Japanese footballers and their mentality is that they work / press extremely hard in sweltering humid heat and they keep this up till the end of the game. I think Japanese stamina and mentality would suit NJ and Charlton down to the ground.

I don’t understand the work permit rules. I thought players had to be internationals, but he isn’t, so how could we sign him?

How many right backs do we need?

We have plenty of cover there, so maybe one or two players are on their way?

Let’s hope so ! Certainly looks like QPR are up for selling him.. can NJ and the board get that signing over the line ?
