Lewis Miller

Onto the next one, then. North of the border there are suggestions led by Sky Sports that Charlton and Blackburn have had £1m bids turned down by Hibernian for right back Lewis Miller.

The 24-year old Australian is a regular for his national side, and Hibs triggered an contract extension for 12 months back in April.

Miller came through the academy at A-League Central Coast Mariners. After four seasons Miller moved to Edinburgh where he has spent three years with Hibernian helping them to 3rd place in last season’s SPL and a place in the Europa League.

Miller appears settled in Scotland and has European football to look forward to plus will almost definitely go to the World Cup with Australia next summer.

London may appeal however and Jones has gathered a small entourage of Scots at the club (I always feel we have had our most successful periods with Scotsman in the team).

It sounds like we need to up our offer if Jones wants to pursue the right back, who can also play on the right side of central defence and as a right-wing-back.

Reading a Hibs’ forum it sounds like we would be buying potential if the Addicks are prepared to go back with a bigger offer, and fight off Blackburn.

Attributes are his physique, strength, ability to get up and down the line, he’s decent on the ball and makes great runs beyond defenders.

I’m a bit confused. I started watching Charlton at about 10 years of age. My dad and uncle would be murmuring “Bloody Glickstens” all through the game. Then came the mad Mark Hulyer years. Even in the Premier League you got a sense that money was really tight. Then came a succession of bad owners, each one worse than the previous one. Thomas Sangaard stopped the rot but couldn’t start the upward projectory.
And now this. At the age of 72 I am, without the intervention of any medication, genuinely excited for what the new season holds.

We seem to be targetting players who can play on the RHS as defenders or wing backs. The number seems excessive if Zach Mitchell is also in the mix for the defensive roles. I think somebody is likely to go, I hope it is not Ramsey.

Would be a good signing but I still think we need a bit more in central midfield jonjo is free at the moment might be good in midfield if his calf muscle isn’t still an issue

I guess this is going to be controversial. I honestly think Claus Jensen was the most technically gifted player that ever played for us. And he scored our finest goal. He should have played at a way higher level. I’m old enough to remember Rob Lee when we knew we had a player. Obviously, Bowyer, Parker and Shelvey. In some way none of them reached their potential. Jensen should have played for a top team. His potential was limitless.. just glided around the pitch. we have never had a 10 that comes close

Jensen was technically gifted but in my opinion let himself down with his fitness level. I heard he had problems with blisters which effected him badly in pre season training. I remember a particular game, he was 30 minutes into a game in October and carried the ball from the half way line in to the penalty area which was good but he then bent over hands on his knees gasping for breathe.

Not controversial at all. One of my favourite players. I picked Claus here:
