Rob Apter signs

Rob Apter has arrived on his bike in Slovenia to become Nathan Jones’ 7th summer signing.

The 22-year old has signed on a 4-year deal for a fee officially undisclosed, but unofficially £2m plus add-ons.

Jones clearly made Apter a summer target, but it took a while for the club’s to agree on price. Under contract until 2027 at Bloomfield Road, Blackpool fans don’t appear to be happy that he has left.

Apter had a fantastic breakout season last year playing in 45 games registering 8 goals, and racking up pretty impressive xG stats.

Apter joined Blackpool from Liverpool’s academy aged 16 and has been nursed well very well on the Fylde coast. He had a couple of non-league loans and then in 2023-24 he scored 12 goals in 37 games while on loan at Tranmere and was named the Sky Bet League Two Young Player of the Season by the EFL.

Fearless, quick, skillful, a great engine Apter is a right winger who loves to cut inside, but also has the capacity to play as a 10. He has defensive qualities too, which might earmark him as a RWB, but I that feel Jones will play him further up the pitch.

An exciting signing with lots of potential and another nice piece to the jigsaw.

I think this is the most exciting of signings that we’ve had so far with no disrespect to the others who have joined, but this young man is on the rise and is a good pedigree and is the kind of player we couldn’t have dreamed of signing a year ago.

I am looking forward to seeing him and supporting him and all the other new signings. However, I think that Blackpool will feel that they have got a really good deal and probably at least £500k more than they could ever have hoped for. I fear that we created our hype!

Definitely the leak pushed the price up. I don’t think they got any other bids, but obviously Steve Bruce wanted to keep hold of him. He also has two more years on his contract.

Charlton seem to be like the Labour party, leaks on all their current purchases, even though Jones wanted to keep everything under the radar for players they are interested in!
So agree CA not surprising the leak pushed the price up even though it appears no one else had put in a bid.
But at least this seems to be a good purchase, unlike last year, when we paid out top money for an unknown forward, with no track record plus no one else interested, who in the end was a complete and utter flop. 🙂

Probably the fact that we got Carey for nothing led Blackpool to push up the price for Apter.
Not too unhappy with the price myself, but I think Oloafe was overpriced. Louie Barry was Stockport’s best player/ goalscorer in the first half of the season but was recalled by Aston Villa and sent to Hull on loan.

Louie Barry to Hull never materialized. Sheff Utd are favourites to take him now.

According to Wikipedia LB joined Hull 29-1-2025 but only made 4 appearances so presumably picked up an injury.

An advantage in Apter’s signing is that he played alongside Carey at Blackpool and they will know each others game, both had impressive seasons last year. They are young enough to have several future seasons together. I think Apter and Carey are the best of the signings. Apter is only 5’8” and 9 stone which may limit his defensive capabilities.
I see from SKY news that we are competing with Blackburn to sign Australian right back Lewis Miller from Hibernian for a fee in excess of one million pounds.

To older supporters like myself fast wingers were always loved at Charlton, Lenny Glover my total favourite, Mike Kenning, Leighton Phillips, Paddy Powell, Denis Rommedahl, Robbo, to name a few I hope Apter joins that illustrious list, good signing.

Totally agree, as would love to see someone again, who can tear down the wing, beat the defender and actually put in decent crosses on a consistance basis.
Can’t remember when we last had a player, like that as even CBT probably only managed one out of three, in the time he was here.
Though, now thinking back, I believe the last great player who could cross a ball with consistancy was Johann Berg Gudmundsson?

Sam Lawrie was good old fashioned winger in the ’60s for the club

This is a very good signing ✍🏻, and look forward to him developing over the years. I think his ball crossing is much better than Small and CBT! It is looking promising for the new season, getting in players with championship experience and / or potential. I guess we don’t know who else may have bid for him, be surprised if we were the only ones. Anyway he is ours and that is a very positive move.
