Blues promoted

Congratulations to the Blue Noses, I know a few of them drop by here occasionally. You came, you spent, you conquered but money alone isn’t always the key to success.

The owners also took a large gamble on Chris Davies, and he has cleverly coached and man-managed a big squad of riches, including Alfie May, who deserves to celebrate a rare honour in a career that started at Corinthian in the Kent village of Fawkham.

Promotion sealed with six games remaining. 95 points after 40 games and a 14-point gap to second-placed Wrexham, the Blues need just one win from those final six games to secure the L1 trophy.

The record L1 points of 103 by Wolves in 2013/14 (two more than the Addicks in 2011/12) looks easily in reach with 18 points still to play for.

Reading hold the record English highest points total ever of 106 points when they won The Championship in 2005/6. The record for most wins is held by neighbours Aston Villa, who managed 32 victories in 1971/72

We have our own fish to fry as we head into the home straight of the season, but we can say that we were one of just three teams that beat them in the league, and they were only beaten in the cups by Newcastle and Fulham.

Quite the season, and they play Peterborough in whatever the Pizza Cup is called on Sunday.

Yes, indeed we still do not know the full story of May but it was obvious last season and was left out or on the subs bench and in danger of not getting the Golden Boot award that there were issues with Jones and ironically the pair of them both kept us up.
It will be even sweeter and nice if Godden and yes a more experienced and ok older player who IMHO is a much better all round player and here is hoping we have to first make the playoffs and for Godden to hit the winner at Wembley.
We have to dream don’t we?

Birmingham will never be one of my favourite football clubs, but well done to them.

To hark back to the Alfie may story. Imagine if NJ hadn’t forced Alfie out and we had kept him along side Godden. Two good strikers, just as Brum have.

Oh and we needn’t have wasted a million quid (or whatever it was) on Ahadme who I suspect will be moving on this Summer.

That’s if anyone wants to spend money on a striker who doesn’t score, and rarely makes the subs bench…..Lol.

        Doesn’t score!

Have you been on a long holiday Greg?

Alfie has fifteen league goals this season. Is either in the starting line-up or on the bench every match.

The reason he is second striker to Stansfield is simple, Brum paid several millions (said to be £15 to £20 million) for Stansfield, so unsurprisingly he plays when fit.

Had Alfie been allowed to stay at Charlton, he could have performed that role for us.

But we ended up with Ahadme, useless. Dear old Chuks, who’s coming to the end rapidly. Kanu, who looks like he won’t quite make the grade and Leaburn, who aside from the fact he’s injured again. Seems to be looking at the exit door.

Yeah,I’m well aware of Alfie’s contribution at Birmingham Daggs, even as an understudy for Stansfield……those goals, (and probably more to come) could have catapulted us out of this godforsaken league had he stayed.

Daggs, if you look back to your original post, you ended it with a comment about paying a million quid for Ahadme……that was the part that I was commenting on. I presume you thought I was talking about May.Does it make sense now ? Lol

Yes indeed, I’m fully up to speed. An example of crossed wires I think.

Thanks for the congratulations . It’s been a fantastic record breaking season. People complaining about the money spent are just jealous that their club cannot do the same. We did get a huge sell on from the Jude Bellingham to Real Madrid and also recouped £13m from the sales of Jordan James, Koji Miyoshi, Sriki Dembele, Alex Pitchard and Junhino Bacuna so we had a huge war chest to rebuild an entire team. The majority of the players brought in May, Dykes, Iwata, Wright, Allsop, Peacock Farrell, Gardner Hickman and Yokoyama actually cost less than £1m and were supplemented with great loans such as Davies, Dowell and Sampsted.

Out of all the teams in the playoffs picture I think Wycombe probably deserve it more than the others. Getting their manager poached by Luton was the defining moment of their season. They never really recovered from that shock. I hope they can pip Wrexham to finish second. The fake American Hollywood derby rivalry with us really did my head in.

Anyway I’m not greedy and just want the EFL trophy and break the Wolves, Villa and Reading records. Good luck in the playoffs but I don’t think you’re consistent enough.
