Miles Leaburn out for season

A blow for Miles, the club and it’s supporters with him ruled out for the rest of this season.

The academy graduate missed pre-season and didn’t feature in the first team squad until October.

He’ll be missed, he’s a weapon from the bench and offers different qualities to Godden, TC and Kanu, but we’ll have to move on without him.

Leaburn missed a large chunk of last season with a difficult hamstring injury which he had slowly recovered from. An injury from a poor tackle last pre-season also delayed his start to the campaign under then Dean Holden.

He also missed games the season before that (2022/23) which he began with a goal at Accrington. That was an ankle injury.

Leaburn is a giant for his age, and is still very much growing into his big frame. Nathan Jones has said the injury, done in training, was innocuous and although his game time has been carefully managed, having no pre-season I suspect hasn’t helped.

The club has made a contract extension offer to the 21-year old, and he may feel he should sign it, or he’ll be taking a gamble going into his last season of this contract knowing that he will need a good full campaign to attract offers from elsewhere.

Get better soon, Miles.

I reckon he has not been fully fit since the hamstring injury. In the games that he has featured in, he seemed to lack the sharpness that we have seen when at his best. Hopefully the break from now, into the closed season, will give him the chance to recover completely. Good luck Miles.

ML is a player of great potential but in each of the 5 seasons he has been with CAFC he has been side-lined for significant periods, which is a pity for the player and supporters. Leaburn Snr sustained a serious back injury in his first start at Newcastle and was not able to reach his full potential in following seasons.

Mbick another tall striker has not played any significant part in what could have been a breakthrough season. Has he had a significant injury?

A blow to lose Miles for the remainder of the season and it was difficult for him to regain full fitness after a series of serious injuries. We have not seen enough of a fully fit Miles who we know is a top striker….will potential to reach higher leagues.I hope time is taken to allow him to fully recover and hopefully join the team ready to fire in goals again next season.
