Andy Scott departs

When Andy Scott joined the club in July 2023 he was pretty much given the keys to the castle, and as his decisions became more and more costly it only appeared as if he was given more keys.

That was until Nathan Jones came in.

This evening the club announced that Scott has left the club in a fluffy back slapping announcement but it is clear that Scott has lost a power struggle, and his immediate boss, Jim Rodwell, is not prepared to carry the can in a well trodden case of self-preservation.

Jones has many others things to worry about like what is happening on the pitch, but he is not shy on giving opinions.

Furthermore and I would think central to this decision was Gavin Carter’s recent appointment as Executive Chair of the board giving him overall ownership of operational decisions.

Andy Scott has spent a lot of the club’s money, and has been well compensated for it. Time for him to go and do that somewhere else.

Eyes now on Jim Rodwell.

Sensible and reasonable fans have to agree that Scott has failed to inspire confidence in his choices of some incoming players.i wish him well in his next job.

Did he jump or was he pushed? Don’t matter really as we’re clearly headed in a different and altogether more positive direction well steered by NJ.

Some shocking recruitment decisions for sure but credit where it’s due for Kayne Ramsey/Thierry Small.

given the Southampton connection for both players do you think these were Andy Scott’s doing or NJ’s ?

I think Ramsey was on the radar during the window, but Small was definitely a Jones’ recommendation. Coventry was very well known to Michael Appleton so I don’t think Scott can claim that one 100%.

Given the Southampton connection of both players you would suspect that NJ had more to do with both these incomings than Andy Scott did. 😭

This clears the way for NJ to decide who he wants on his promotion push and as already demonstrated clearing out ‘dead wood’.
