Family Fortunes

My son arrived last night to spend Christmas with us. I don’t think he believed me when I told him the Charlton score!

It’s his first time to our house in Florida and we’re excited to have him here, in fact it’s his first time in America since he visited us in Chicago in 2007.

The two things he told me he wants to do? Eat at Popeyes, and walk around Walmart! Funny enough they were not on our list, but we have a few festive things planned, but it will also be really lovely just to have him in the house and challenge him to my new Christmas game, Mount Cleverest.

I’ve left him in bed this morning as I need to run around getting the final items for our Christmas dinner, there’s been a bit of a shortage of turkeys around these parts, probably because Americans don’t usually eat turkey for Christmas, so wish me well in that pursuit shortly.

Then later this afternoon we are driving up to Tampa to see an ice hockey game. The Tampa Bay Lightning host Florida Panthers, who are based in Miami and won last season’s Stanley Cup.

It should be a good game, and hopefully we’ll see a little local rivalry edge.
