Must win
Our group chat normally begins early gameday with someone sending a simple two-word message: ‘must win’.
I think I’ve been going long enough to not press the panic button, but I’m sorry, tomorrow’s game really is a must win.
We suddenly find ourselves closer to relegation than a play-off place, and misery levels amongst us are high. A win would at least lift the immediate torpor.
Burton sit bottom with one league win to their name, that against second bottom Shrewsbury, and without a permanent manager, Tom Hounsell will take charge of his 7th game on Tuesday night.
The lowest Addicks following of the season, perhaps a few seasons, will make the journey where at least the beer is good. I really hope for their sakes they get to watch something to cheer about.
Unlikely but playing TC and Dixon would at least give us some uncharted threat. We didn’t look any better without Taylor, so I’d play him too, but otherwise I don’t really care who Jones picks unless miraculously Lloyd Jones or Kayne Ramsey are fit.
I like to spot patterns in games and over groups of games, and they all currently stink.
Jones over eggs it of course, but we have started ‘alright’ in the last few games, but we can’t sustain it, often going behind and have yet to turn that around to a winning position.
Tomorrow is about winning but it would at least encourage me if we play well. Probably too much to ask.
