Leaburn returns to action

I dipped in and out of feed of the U21 action today against Leeds United in the Premier League Cup.

Miles Leaburn started his first match since the end of November last year.

Miles played the first 45 minutes partnering Micah Mbick up top before being replaced at half-time, and he looked pretty good.

He hit the post when he shot across the goal and had plenty of involvements against a team that play at the highest academy level. Young Portuguese star Diogo Monteiro was up against Leaburn and Mbick.

The final score was 1-1 with Ryan Huke equalizing an early Leeds goal in the first half. Patrick Casey replaced Leaburn and we more than held our own.

Our U21’s have two more games in the next seven days, so hopefully we get to see more of Miles.

Good news CA and good to hear but I am a bit concerned about how much hope we’re pinning on an injury prone 20 y/o. Should’ve just paid May his money, think we’d be pretty much guaranteed top 2 if we had but we didn’t so yes let’s hope Miles does the biz so the regret isn’t rubbed in every Saturday when looking at Birmingham’s score sheet.

‘Steve’ It wasn’t a question of May wanting more money. NJ told May he wouldn’t be involved in the match day squad when the team was rebuilt. It left Alfie little choice but to leave.

As I’ve said on here previously. It was an act of crass stupidity by the manager. Messiah! my arse.

    Hi CA,

I was at he game and Miles looked fast and sharp and was a problem.for the Leeds defence. At least he’s had 45 minutes under his belt and survived a few challenges without any significant issues. It seems that Miles full recovery is being managed well.

That’s good news as we really need him looking at how all the other so called forwards have faired so far, apart from the cameo 15 to 20 minute appearances of Aneke, as thats all he can last before he’s knackered and Kanu who hasn’t been given a chance!

Also agree with Steve & Daggs, we could have kept May if it hadn’t been for Jone’s being narrow minded about him, paid him some more and assured him he would be able to leave the following season!

Imagine Miles & May together playing at there best! We would have by far had the best two strikers in the division.

Have to agree Mike having Alfie and Miles is a dream combination….I hope losing May will not dent our promotion push this season

As much as I want to see Miles back in the team. I hope he isn’t rushed, which could lead to breakdown again.

Agree Daggs. Hopefully Will Abbott will be a far better judge than previous medical staff we’ve had.
