Fixtures out. Tough start

Yes, I know we play everyone twice, home and away and it all works out in the end.

Nonetheless I always believe that a good season is 99% of time spawned by a good start and looking at those early fixtures they will be a test for Nathan Jones’ new look side.

We will travel north to Wigan on opening day which is Saturday, August 10th. A week later the first home game, which is as it was last year will be Leyton Orient, and then Bolton (h), Reading (a) and Rotherham (h) all follow.

Other home games within those first eight at The Valley include Blackpool (Sept 21), Birmingham (Oct 5), Wrexham (Oct 26) and Peterborough (Nov 16).

Remember now before you start making plans, that Sky Sports will have their wicked way with these fixtures within the next week or so. The International games are already listed within the CAFC fixture list.

UPDATE: Our first game away at Wigan is a 5.30pm kick off.

The early fixtures will be difficult with the squad so far assembled. No doubt other recruits will follow but I think they will need to be of very high quality to enable CAFC to mount a realistic challenge at the top of the table. On what we have now mid table seems about right.
