Alex Mitchell joins from Millwall
This deal was done last week, but got delayed due to the tragic sudden passing of Millwall ‘keeper Matija Sarkic.
Alex Mitchell has signed a three-year contract for an undisclosed fee, with the Lions adding a large sell on as part of the deal.
Mitchell has never played a game for Millwall, but he is widely regarded over there. At 22, he has over 100 games under his belt, and played the past three seasons on loan at Leyton Orient (L2), St Johnstone (SPL) and last season at Lincoln (L1), where he stood out.
He’s a big strong lad and offers a lot of potential. Welcome to the right side of tracks, Alex.

We seem to be doing some very good business. I’m impressed so far.
Agree. I like what I’ve seen. Still a long way to go though.
As the article points out, he played a lot of football (36 matches) in a team that conceded just 40 goals all season, given that he played at the heart of that defence I’ll assume he had a big part to play in that.
So far we’ve got a new keeper in, a left back and a centre-back – only Luke Berry is a non-defensive signing. I’m pleased that NJ is addressing the weakest part of our team last season and getting his targets in.
