Freddie Ladapo on loan, CBT off

Freddie Ladapo was flavour of the month in the summer as Addicks’ fans clamoured over his signature. Well, we have finally got our man as he has signed on loan from Ipswich Town.

Ladapo is mobile and strong and although he has found it hard to be a starter in Ipswich’s incredible beginning to the season, he has 22 games under his belt and scored 4 goals.

Ladapo came the long way around in his football career playing a lot at non-league level before Crystal Palace took the chance on him after a prolific season at Margate when he was 23.

More loans followed before a spell at Southend, but it was after that at the age of 25 that his career kicked into life at Plymouth, Rotherham and then Ipswich. He has won promotion from L1 three times.

Freddie’s brother Tolu is in the Addicks’ academy.

This transfer window has moved into 5th gear. Welcome Freddie.

It looks as if CBT’s injury will either miraculously cure itself if he signs for Derby tonight or will worsen if he doesn’t. It is being widely reported that he is at Derby taking a medical after a fee of £300,000 has been agreed.

A good bit of business, Freddie Ladapo has two L1 promotions under his belt and has some good goal scoring form at this level. He fits the physical striker template that teams need in this division.

A shame that CBT looks like he’s off – if the 300k transfer fee is right then it represents a good return for a free transfer who was initially so highly thought of that we gave him a six month contract. It’s also the third time that Derby have improved their offer. He’s improved a lot in that time, particularly in front of goal but he still has more to do there. I presume that TC will switch back to wide left and we need to get in a right-wing.

So far some excellent work being done in this window, there’s still one or two players to be shifted on and others brought in, but I can see why each player has been signed and doing our business early on reduces the need to panic on the last day and take gambles.

£300K in the bank for a player who blows hot’n’cold (mostly cold) and clearly wants out. That’ll do for me.

A good loan signing and will give us strength in attack…helping Alfie too !!!
Seems that CBTs “injury” wasn’t as bad as claimed and Derby will no doubt will benefit.
I’m sorry if he goes but players are always looking for more money and club loyalty is a thing of the past.

I watched Albie Morgan this week playing for
Blackpool and he had a good game scoring a brilliant goal…..I won’t mention the poor back pass he made hat gifted the opposition an early goal….a case of zero to hero for him.

A great example of a player who needed to move on. Good luck to him.
