Chem Campbell loan ends
He brought with him a lot of promise but today Chem Campbell has had his season-loan cut short and has returned to Wolves.
Wolves appear to have great hopes for him, especially after a successful loan at Wycombe in the second half of last season, but although we have had many worse, Campbell (C) just didn’t cut it.
Niggling injuries and then Michael Appleton playing him in an assortment of positions, but never a winger which is where Wolves have groomed him, meant he never really made an impact.
12 appearances and 2 goals and another fly by night ‘Valiant (approaching) 1,000’ disappears into history.

Another loss to us…Appleton seems to play a lot of players out of position….Is he aiming to be a chess master ?
This suggests that we got rid, rather than Wolves recalling him (for whatever reason).
But that’s the third season long loanee who’s been given a one way ticket home. As we’ve signed two new loanees this January presumably this means we’ve cleared up some space for another one?
I quite liked what I saw, he looked to have a footballer’s head on his shoulders and a bit of pace. But MA played him several times at number 8 which didn’t seem to suit his skills. Given the rumours about CBT I’d have kept him on to play wide right – and shift TC to play on the left.
I thought Chem had some talent. Did well at Wycombe last season, so perhaps it was us that got it wrong for him?
Perhaps it was us that couldn’t find his position? This seems like an odd one to me. We have had much much worse loan players stay for a lot longer. Yeah, this one’s confusing for me.
I have no insight but suspect C. Campbell and Appleton didn’t see eye to eye.
Personally I didn’t particularly rate him.
