Sunshine Coast
The sun peeped from behind the grey clouds yesterday in Eastbourne, known as the Sunshine Coast due to an over 100-year record of the town having the most sunshine hours in a month ever recorded.
It almost required sunglasses for the five minutes the sun made an appearance as we walked around the Meads end of the town.
You Englanders have been shrouded in cloud and rain for most of this year, and yesterday’s strain of Sussex sunlight was the first we’d seen since we landed at Heathrow last Friday.
We began our Christmas tour in London followed by the Oxfordshire countryside and then Eastbourne seeing my parents for a few days, who live little more than a few miles from the Sunshine Coast.
We holed ourselves up in the dainty Port Hotel with its less than subtle black facade which hid a modern interior sat right on the windswept sea front.
On our way to London now to literally see the King* as our daughter is desperate to go to Buckingham Palace.
*subject to the King having not already escaped to Balmoral for Hogmanay.

Are you going to the game on Monday? I’m half-hoping my trains will be cancelled so I have an excuse to miss it!
Steve – I have a better excuse. We will be on a flight home during the game Monday 😃
Apart from death, that’s the best excuse going!
😂 🤣
I’ll drive you to the Airport so I miss us losing again…and hopefully get stuck in M25 traffic on way home to avoid game
Take Appleton with you !!
HNY CA.
Methven and Scott could go in the hold ?
🤣
Far too good for them Chris….. better still let them sit in the wheel-well, that way we’ll be permanently rid of the them – that is, if they still even exist!
Safe trip home….pity you can’t get to the Valley….to witness the atmosphere of failure
Happy New Year to you and family
Many thanks Chris. The same to you.
Happy New Year to you and the family CA….Have a safe journey home, and thanks for the platform for us all to let off steam. !!!
