Tayo Edun signs

The arrival of a left footed left wing back in the hours before the Millwall friendly yesterday.

25-year old Tayo Edun signed from Blackburn for a small fee on a two-year contract, with the option of a third year. The fee is understood to be very much tied to sell-on clauses and performance-based add-ons, such as Charlton winning promotion.

London born Edun came through Fulham’s youth system and after a successful stint at Lincoln City was signed by Blackburn where he has spent the last two seasons making 34 appearances.

He fell out of favour under Jon Dahl Tomasson, making just eight Championship appearances for the club, all before Christmas. Edun’s contract was due to expire next summer, though there had been an option to extend it by a further 12 months.

An attack minded quick left footed full back has long been missing from the squad and Dean Holden finally got his man after trying to sign him on loan in January.

Welcome to Charlton Edun.
