Idris El Mizouni

Ipswich’s Tunisian international looks to be high up on Dean Holden’s loan list. Whilst loan players normally come late in a transfer window it sounds as if Charlton have already lodged a season-long offer but are up against competition from Derby and Wycombe.

El Mizouni came through Ipswich’s academy after moving as a teen from his home city of Paris. The 22-year old was pivotal to Leyton Orient’s success last season dominating games from midfield with the ability to sit deep as well as take risks further up the field.

The O’s look like they will be unable to attract El Mizouni back, with Ipswich boss Kieran McKenna wanting him to be in a team challenging at the top of the L1 table as well getting plenty of game time.

We’ll see if Dean Holden can convince the player and McKenna that it is to Charlton that the Tunisian should head.

I don’t know much about him, but he sounds like the sort of box-to-box midfielder that we are missing from our squad.

We have a couple of defensive midfielder options in Conor McGrandles and George Dobson, we have a number 8 in Scott Fraser, we have wingers, it’s someone who can be a defensive midfielder when needed and be a bit creative on the attack that we need.

He was Orient’s players’ player of the season and also got into the L2 team of the season.

Prior to playing at Orient he was on loan at Cambridge and has had a few games for Ipswich.

Offering him regular football might be the key to signing him, Ipswich will want him to progress so they’ll want him to be a regular starter.

I do hope I’m so wrong here but with no updates on the takeover it looks like another season off loans and free agents again I don’t think Alfie may will be up front for us as he will cost money but I do hope I’m wrong

The Welling game showed that we lack a good playmaker. In the Welling game last year (behind closed doors) Dobson was more adventurous than normal with his passing and making forward runs, could he now be allowed to play that role alongside Mitchell who is also capable of making forward runs when anchoring the midfield. This could mean playing a 3-5-2 system with Asiimwe and Chin/Bower as wing backs.
Hopefully the injury to Leaburn is not too serious but should energise the search to recruit another striker capable of scoring goals and leading the line. Sam Smith who was with Jones at Cambridge last season comes to mind.

Looking like we are planning on a 3-5-2 system next season.
