Charlton Athletic 1 Accrington Stanley 1

Dean Holden celebrated his new contract with a bore draw against a team 5th from bottom. We have to hope that next the ownership situation gets sorted and Dean is allowed to rebuild because this team is derelict.
A time-honored defensive error gave Stanley a first half lead, but a worldly from Stephen Sessegnon drew us level for our first goal in almost 8 hours.
The 2nd half saw the visitors having far more chances and they dominated the majority of the play, whereas we only came to life towards the end. Shamefully on our own patch our final product, and indeed our first product was substandard.
That is now just two wins at The Valley since October as the season limps on to become our worst placed finish in a century.
Also limping off were both Jes Rak-Sakyi and Lucas Ness, who were both withdrawn with injuries. Kanu was lively when he came on, not sure Bonne touched the ball.
We have to trust in Holden, who has lost his early touch with this mob, but his work has to begin now. Possibly allowing him to hire a more tactically astute assistant manager would be a good starting point.
Dean Holden: “The goal, we were in comfortable possession on the halfway line and give a cheap one away. We have to regain it on our goal-line and we gave another cheap one away and got pulled apart in the box. It’s too easy to concede. It’s a really poor goal from our point of view.”
Stats (CAFC first): Possession – 51% / 49%; Passes – 333 / 305; Accurate passes – 213 / 192; Shots (on target) – 10 (3) / 16 (8)
Same old same old.
The same after every game……utter dross.
Nothing left to say, except thanks CA for even bothering. No one else seems to.
Cut and paste, cut and paste….
There’s a couple of us still bothering, but think we are all running on empty.
Another game we selected to go to. practically every player was atrocious. We couldn’t win or keep the ball, even Maynard Brewer kept firing ariel balls into midfield and I can’t recollect winning one. Sess goal was fantastic but that had an element of luck. So many poor touches, ball goes out for goal kick and Leaburn attempts to return it to their goalie, after 2 kicks it still hadn’t reached the goalie. Unfortunately he did this a couple of times in the match passing weakly to opposition defenders.. not one of the starting 11 seemed up for it. Don’t think we had a shot in the 2nd half.
Just replying to myself to add the Valley is getting more empty every time I go.. we are going to Cambridge but neither of us have any desire to purchase any more tickets after that.
Sounded so quiet today NA4Y. So depressing.
As soon as Accrington scored the Covered End made their feelings about the Sandgaard’s known and it continued for the rest of the match. Expect this to ramp up sooner rather than later.
As it should Luke.
Lots of huffing and puffing but we couldn’t blow down Accringtons house….we were in danger of losing this game and we got to face up to being in a relegation battle unless we have strategies to deal with issues the opposition give us !!!!
The dark clouds are looming…
Charlton bingo: Huff & Puff ✔️
Apathetic no more words
And no complaints from you CA mate at least you ain’t freezing your nuts off watching this sh1te
My heart is icing Steve, but at least I’m in the warm.
Spot on CA, we are such a basket case with an “Under Offer” sign hanging over our Club and a string of relegation results and the new manager bounce well and truly finished and so we give him a 3 year contract with no team rebuild budget in the offing! Well at least Dean is now financially secure for the next 3 years albeit he’ll probably be another Charlton managerial casualty by Christmas! Waiting for the season ticket renewal fiasco next. As Dr Smith would say…….Oh the pain!
Holden’s contract is amortized I assume. Sandgaard won’t be paying the full length of that, although you can never underestimate Thomas’ habit of firing by email.
This is where we are at. Results don’t lie…bottom quarter of the 3rd division. The only way out of the mess we are in, is for new owners and a large cash injection. Sound familiar ?
Groundhog Day Greg 😞
A midd table third tear team, nothing special. Yes we went asleep in our seats. With the club in a deep coma. Big ground small club.
Holden will be gone before Sandgaard.
The fans will be gone before Sandgaard !!!
Will the last man holding the guitar turn off the lights 🎸😫
Lovely last comment CA 🤣 ⚽️ 🤣
