Sunday pint

It is said that in American politics voters often cast their vote based on who they’d like to share a pint with.
As it’s Sunday, I’d like to share my lunchtime pint with the brilliant Lauren Kreamer, the Addicks’ most famous barrister. She appeared on the Charlton Live podcast today and talked eloquently again of the current issues, legal and otherwise.
The word ‘issue’ trivialize’s where the club currently are, but Lauren said something that resonated with me, and that is that I really don’t care about the spat between Sandgaard and Methven’s lot.
I have always pursued clarity and authenticity surrounding our owners on here, but I am exhausted of it. I was always wary of Sandgaard (take a look back at my blogs) and his guitar-playing ego never sat well with me, and Methven is simply a snake.
As Lauren said, Sandgaard is at least paying the bills, and keeping the lights on, if not much else, but he is patently bored and unable to afford his new plaything. The challenge now is to sell to someone that actually wants to do the right things for the football club, and that means owning all of it’s assets under roof.
Please can we find someone or some people that want to and are able to invest, engage, lead and steward our club properly and sensibly for today’s and tomorrow’s fans. Is it much to ask?
It appears that it is, and Charlton Athletic have been and continue to be a magnet for chancers, crooks and charlatans, and that is why Lauren, CAST and supporters need to keep shining a big bloody torch on it. Just like Dave, Rick, Louis and many others on Charlton Life are doing already.
We are better together, but I may just take a back seat, albeit still with a sharp tongue. Now mine is a pint of Moretti please. Happy Sunday.
Mines a large Merlot…cheers CA !!
Varney and Barclay in my mind the only option, for the sake of the club.
Yet Sandgaard will clearly not (yet) sell 100% and RD won’t (or wouldn’t) engage.
Spiegel is not the answer, and he seems to have disappeared anyway.
So we drag on rudderless until Sandgaard stops paying the bills, which I presume will be soon after he cashes in on whatever players are saleable in the summer.
Very very dark clouds are on the horizon !!
Duchelet owns the Valley ground and Sparrows Lane and his asking price is unrealistic….its an investment that keeps growing for him.
Whoever replaces T S is only buying into the team, wages for players and staff and would be renting the Valley and training ground from Duchelet.
God we are in such a mess !! and fans are the last people being considered.
Chris, spot on as usual us the supporters or customers GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
Not exactly rocket science and in my 7 yes SEVENS DECADES of supporting this club nothing new about the Ownership issues and us proper CAFC supporters must have done several things severely wrong in times gone by and now.
Maybe we’ve all walked under thousands of ladders, broken thousands of mirrors and seen thousands of single magpies is my only observation.
Lauren was really great, love her enthusiasm for the club
Great insight from Ms Kreamer. I was especially interested to learn, that when a lawyer tells you that they are “extremely surprised…” what they really mean is, “You’re a bell end.”
Whatever we think of Sandgaard as being naive and now having buyers remorse, we have to admit he’s a wily operator when it comes to legalities. He surrounds himself with Freshfields – one of the top international law firms who made short work of the Southall mob and I suspect he’ll do the same with Methven and the disputed £800K. Methven would have be pretty sure he was on firm ground to take this on, especially as some of the other characters in his cabal might get cold feet when they have to pitch in with more cash for a legal a fighting fund.
Freshfields ain’t a cheap option. Sandgaard’s money would be far better spent by not pissing people about, sacking long standing valuable staff, eroding the workforce and brand and paying Freshfields hundreds of thousands clearing up after him. Lawyers’ fees are almost always good money going after bad and the last resort of shabby actors
To think how much money has Sandgaard has wasted. We don’t need a sugar Daddy we just need someone that knows what they are doing and has a bit of integrity and foresight.
