Todd Kane out ‘for a number of weeks’

The injury curse of new signings strikes again.

Todd Kane, who showed promise in the first half on Saturday even though he was switched to left back just before kick off is now sidelined for a ‘number of weeks’ with a hamstring injury.

That’s at least 4-5 games and takes us into the middle of February. I assume Kane returns to his parent club Coventry for treatment.

Dean Holden has been more up-front than Ben Garner was on Stephen Sessegnon’s ongoing injury management, so maybe Lucas Ness is an option there on the left side, although I really feel we would miss him from the centre.

A left back is still on the shopping list, with Blackburn’s Tayo Edun one target. What else the shopping list who the hell knows? Maybe just milk and eggs, and a load of sour cream.

Yes Kane played well with Ness until his early departure, return to parent club asap it will be sometime in April before returning to full time footy

That was a useless loan. Might as well cancel the loan and send him back. Frankly we seemed to do better with the defense we already have. Keep looking for others in the January window.

Agree with Terry, he didn’t impress at all when he was on the pitch and the winger kept flying pass him on the outside, another player who is played on the left but can’t use his right foot!

Ness is definitely developing as a good centre back and has shown skill and confidence dealing with the opposition….
We seem to be fated with injuries and Kane hasn’t made any impact as yet….I was pleased that Sean Clare did the job replacing him.

Ordinary hamstring injuries are usually a two-three week thing, the news that he’ll be missing for several weeks suggests a more severe tear.

I feel for Kane, he’s fallen down the pecking order at Coventry and a spell at Charlton could have been good for both us and him – he had a shop window to prove himself, which has to be better than reserve team football for Coventry and we needed some experienced defenders.

So it means a further player coming in, or maybe a recall for Charles Clayden? But isn’t this why we have Andrew Scott?

Maybe Holden could get around it by playing Ness/Inniss/O’Connell as a three man defence and having two wing backs, Sessegnon and Clare can play the wing back game, but the former looks unable to play two games in a week.

Just stop buying injury prone players.
