Miles out for more than a month

Thomas Sandgaard’s summer recruitment policy was shown up for it’s stupidity again today when we were told that Miles Leaburn will be missing with injury for some time.

Manager Ben Garner said: “he’s got some ligament damage to his ankle. He’ll see the specialist next week. But he’s in a protective boot at the moment. He’s certainly going to be out for a period of time.”

Thrown into the first team Miles has been impressive scoring 5 goals mostly from the bench and is our top scorer. Garner’s switch to 4-4-2, now looks in jeopardy tomorrow night unless he plays someone alongside Stockley, perhaps Jack Payne in the hole behind. Chuks will I expect start on the bench.

The game starts at 4pm my time tomorrow, and hopefully there will be a few Addicks in the pub with me to watch it.

I watched Leaburn barely able to walk off after his injury, but was absolutely shocked to see him on the screen hobbling on the field after the game… he should never have been allowed to do that and as far as I could see he wasn’t even strapped up…pretty stupid..

Was always going to be the case wasn’t it, going into a season with one fit striker and an academy teenager to lead the line, and an absence of incoming cover……there will be a lot of people saying ‘told ya so’….stupidity at it’s greatest.

So we have now lost our current only real forward, as Stockley has been a complete waste of space and Aneke can only play about 2o minutes a game if that, before he’s injured again for another two months!
Made perfect sense to only go after one specific striker in the transfer window and not have any other backups!!!
Probably won’t see us scoring more than one goal a game for the next eight matches, until Miles is fit and ready again, which knowing how great our physios are, won’t be until the New Year.
