Jason Euell promoted to first team coach

Happy April 1st, plenty of wind up’s out there but Jason Euell’s promotion is not one of them. Congratulations Jase, well deserved.
During the last few months I wondered if Euell, who has been at the club this time around since 2013, would still be a feature at Sparrows Lane. He applied for the manager’s job at AFC Wimbledon in February before the Dons offered Mark Robinson the job permanently. There were also whispers that he was on Lee Bowyer’s summer wishlist too, that’s if he is allowed to rebuild the coaching infrastructure at St Andrews.
Great news for Euell, who has more than proved his coaching and mentoring value and is a great ambassador for the football club and community. He also works with the England U20’s.
It is unusual though that Nigel Adkins did not want to, or wasn’t allowed to bring in his own people alongside him. He now has a first team staff that includes Johnnie Jackson, Jason Euell and Grant Basey. 440 Addicks’ appearances between them.
Andy Marshall completes the team that Adkins inherited.
Have to think there will be some shakeup in the staff in the off-season. This move may be meant to give Adkins a chance to get to work with/know Euell prior to that happening. Could see Jason as a replacement for Johnny in that scenario.
Well lets hope one of them – and I don’t care who – has finally got through to our goalkeeper about distributing the ball to defenders when there are opposition players ready to hunt them down. It doesn’t take much to work out what will happen (you would have thought) BUT IT KEEPS BLOODY HAPPENING!!!!
Sorry CA – that’s been building up ever since the last game.
