Marshalled

Andy Marshall, the last of Lee Bowyer’s coaching team has signed on the dotted line meaning that all of Bow’s team from last season remain for our first Championship campaign since 2015/16.
Shay Given originally recommended Marshall to Bowyer and undeniably improved both Dillon Phillips and Jed Steer, and can take great credit in both those men winning play-off final winner’s medals. Steer kept Croatian national keeper Lovre Kalinić out of the Villa side on his return to Villa Park in January.
Nothing new on the transfer front, although both Steve Gallen and Lee Bowyer remain busy, but it will be a patience game now. Bowyer said today that he’d expect two to three additional permanents and four loan signings, but these can be made up until August 8th, and the loans I am sure won’t be until close to, or on that deadline day.
Two strikers, a goalkeeper, a centre half/sitting midfielder, 2 x central midfielders, a wide player, and a no. 10 is what I think we need, but that’s 8 in total. It’s a balancing act for sure for Bow and Gallen.
Think we only need 1 centre mid – maybe need to add a winger to this as well. Thoughts?

I think we need two wide players, one left and one right, or at least some midfielders with a bit of pace, other than that I agree.
From Bow’s comments I think we’ve spent what budget we have and are now scrapping around for free transfers and that depends on what those players are offered by other clubs. We probably won’t get any loanees until August when their clubs decide what players they want to keep on their staff. But at least we’ve done most, if not all, of the shifting out of players.
