Scunthorpe United 2 Charlton Athletic 0
And on the bench today we have..
Two sides pretty inseparable until the hour mark when Scunny’s Josh Morris fired in two goals of the month. Positively speaking we very much were in the game and created chances against the form team in the division before two goals in three minutes knocked the stuffing out of us. The unbeaten run was always going to come to an end. Good teams bounce back and start new unbeaten runs and we play again on Tuesday night.
On the negative we had chances to score that we didn’t take, again. Marshall in particular culpable when one-on-one in the first half. Magennis also saw a header pushed onto a post (photo). We most definitely missed Fosu and Clarke, although I can’t see how we missed Reeves on what we have seen from him so far.
Nonetheless at the risk of sounding like a broken record, that bench was hardly going to change a game and bringing on KAG and Hackett-Fairchild in an attempt to rescue something tells me why we are going to trail Wigan, Blackburn, Scunny and Bradford until this is addressed and still no sign of Leon Best being given a contract.
Portsmouth are behind us, although Peterborough are slipping but they Pompey, Blackburn and Wigan all appear on the fixture list before the new year.
Tuesday suddenly became important. Blackburn play as well.
Quote: This is just a disappointment that we have to move on from. The most important thing for the longevity of our success is that we’re not playing badly,

I’ll take that back…. I’ve just seen the goals. They were goals of the season not month!
Another point. What is the point of Dodoo?
When you play one up front the opposition central defenders can mark him tightly, the number 10 should be within a short distance to receive knockdowns and layoffs. Our number 10s are playmakers rather than goalscorers and rarely close to Magennis. How many goals have Clarke and Reeves scored. No question they are good players but I question the system.
When I saw the team I was hoping that we would play 3 at the back i.e.Konsa Bauer and Sarr
with Solly and Dasilva as wing backs then play Kashi as holding midfield in front of them. Allowing Foster Caskey to take the number 10 role and provide support to Magennis. Holmes and Marshall to provide the playmaking with the aid of the wingbacks
I like the idea of that. Robinson is too rigid sometimes with his system.
I think your last post, and the comment from Big Pete. had it right CA – lack of bench options. I’m a big fan of Karl, with his passion and the way he seems to understand the way the fan base thinks. But it seems like he is fighting with one behind his back under Rat and Nightmare.
Nice to hear from you PA. Lack of squad depth and quality has been a hallmark of RD’s reign.
KR talked all summer of two players for each position but is still forced to utilize green youngsters and put square pegs in round holes.
