….Well it’s enough to make your heart go wo-wo-woa.

Enough of this frivolity, but I was pleased to see that Karel Fraeye picked up on the significance of tomorrow’s date yesterday.

An away game against the only unbeaten team in all four leagues is a tough prospect, whatever our situation but the team at least go into the game without any expectation. A committed and unified performance should still be respected, although we could still find ourselves back in the bottom three by tomorrow evening.

I will be interested to see what Fraeye does with the team, a couple of whom were so far off the pace last Saturday that they were an embarrassment. Jackson will travel to the game, but is not expected to play. Fraeye may well drop Fox for Holmes-Dennis at left back and give Vaz Te his first start.

Brighton have only won games by the odd goal, and if we could pinch an early one then it could get interesting. Chris Hughton is a wily operator and Fraeye will have to dig deep into his analytical mind to out think and out play Hughton’s promotion chasers.

I expect the away end to have less Addicks in it than any other previous visit to the Amex. £32 for a ticket is very steep and apathy lingers over us like a dense fog at the moment. I got an email from a Brighton supporting mate this morning telling me that their fans have been keeping an eye on recent developments at The Valley and will be very supportive of any protests tomorrow. Brighton and Charlton fans have always had a very close connection following the Seagulls long drawn out travails at the time of the Goldstone being sold from under them in 1997.

I see that Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has agreed to join QPR as their new manager, not head coach incidentally. He may have been a shadow of his former self by the time he pitched up at The Valley as a player in 2006, but he arrives at Loftus Road with a very creditable and blossoming reputation as a manager.

Hasselbaink was rumoured to be on Katrien Meire’s imaginary list of Guy Luzon’s replacements but he has denied such a thing and privately he was said to be against a move due to Charlton’s football structure.

Meanwhile Steve Clarke became this week’s Championship manager casualty getting the boot from Reading just a few weeks after he turned down Fulham’s approach. Reading are a point below the play-off’s but his dalliance with Fulham’s looks to have ended his time at the Madjeski.

Finally happy to see that Mikhail Kennedy and Josh Staunton today signed new contracts with the Charlton.
