Lake Tahoe

Late last night I arrived in Lake Tahoe in California after a long day of travelling. I am here until Thursday, er working…. it says here.

The week consists of early morning advisory boards and late afternoon breakout sessions, but in between times is reserved for winter sport activities, but Lake Tahoe hasn’t seen snow since the end of December and I think I am going to get more use out of sun lotion than snow boots.

We are staying about half an hour from Lake Tahoe, one of the deepest freshwater lakes in North America and our hotel is mid-mountain at Northstar not far from the California/Nevada state line at an elevation of 6,330 feet.

Close by is the historic town of Truckee, which I am going to explore later this morning.

Had one year of hell living in the pit of Reno about 10 years ago –the Lake was such a nice relief in summer.

I landed in Reno late last night. Not very impressive at night, and I am sure even less so in daylight!!

I’ll be there in a few weeks. It would be nice if they get some more snow for the ski resorts.

Crazy isn’t it. Parts of Rhode Island cut off!

Funny, yesterday was warmer in Lake Tahoe than it was in Bermuda!

Apologies for the lack of snow in the West. We are all suffering badly this year. However, we do have the distraction of Sundance Film Festival which is in full swing and a real endurance test when combined with a full work week.

No problem SLC. Leaving today with half of my ski wear back in the case unworn! How is Sundance? I almost made it one year, but missed it by a couple of days.

Sundance is brilliant. Always is. Real test of stamina but the quality is very high. Only one dud out of seven watched so far. If you do make it we should make sure we offer you some Western hospitality.
