Garcia steps down

Sad to see that Oscar Garcia has stepped down as Watford boss following his recent health concerns. Garcia had only been in charge for 27 days and only oversaw one game, the 0-1 defeat to The Addicks at The Valley.

Watford say that Garcia’s health “is of no further cause of concern” but he needs time to recuperate. I hope that he gets back to full fitness soon and can return to the game.

Watford have appointed Northern Ireland’s assistant manager Billy McKinlay as their new head coach, the Hornets third of the season, yet they remain in 4th place. McKinlay was on the caoching staff at Fulham up until the end of last year and joined with Garcia’s involvement last week.

Cardiff move closer to appointing Russell Slade as their manager. Leyton Orient and Cardiff are currently in dispute over Slade, even though the O’s manager was threatened with the sack a couple of weeks ago. Slade has resigned but according to Tan he is currently working as a consultant. That will please Cardiff’s lawyers, who have been somewhat busy this past year.

Bolton’s Dougie Freedman is hanging on by a thread after admitting that managing Bolton is a harder job than I first thought.” Bolton have appeared in freefall for some time but it is interesting to note that in the days of sacking managers on a whim, Freedman has been in charge of Wanderers for almost two years.

Then there is the reality show starring Leeds United and their owner Massimo Cellino, who was led out of the Brentford end to the Leeds end on Saturday, enjoying a hot dog on the way.

More importantly I think it must be George Țucudean’s turn again to play alongside Igor at Carrow Road tomorrow.
